MY STORY
Why I Created Rachel

Last year, I was diagnosed with cancer. It was a frightening experience, and one that completely changed how I thought about my health.

Afterwards, I found myself taking more than 30 supplements every day. I wanted to look after myself as best I could, but with so many bottles, ingredients and conflicting opinions, it had all become rather overwhelming.

I started looking more closely at what I was taking, why I was taking it and whether there was a simpler way.

That was the beginning of RACHEL.

I wanted to bring together the ingredients I believed were worth considering into four straightforward daily formulations, without the endless bottles or unnecessary extras.

Ageing Well

We are learning more about healthy ageing all the time, but knowing which supplements to choose isn’t always easy.

At RACHEL, our research focuses on four areas:

– Fighting damage at a cellular level.
– Improving our wellbeing during hormonal changes.
– Supporting our digestive and immune systems.
– Providing better mental clarity, concentration and memory.

Our aim is to make everyday wellbeing simpler, helping us as we age, with carefully selected ingredients and clear information about why they have been chosen.

Our Approach

We don’t believe in adding ingredients simply because they’re fashionable.

We look at published scientific research, particularly human studies, and consider the quality, suitability and amount of each ingredient.

More isn’t necessarily better. We want every ingredient to have a reason for being there.

We also avoid filling our formulations with unnecessary vitamins and minerals simply to make the label look more impressive.

Facts, Not Hype

The supplement industry can be confusing. There are countless products promising remarkable results, often without the evidence to support them.

I wanted RACHEL to be different.

We believe in being honest about what research does and doesn’t show. No exaggerated promises, no unnecessary ingredients and no complicated explanations.

Just clear information to help people make informed choices.

Made in Britain

RACHEL supplements are manufactured in the UK.

We place great importance on ingredient quality, clear labelling and appropriate manufacturing standards.

Our formulations are reviewed against the regulatory requirements of the countries in which they are offered, and we aim to be transparent about what goes into every capsule.

Always Evolving

Science doesn’t stand still, and neither should we.

As new research becomes available, we will continue reviewing our ingredients and formulations, making improvements where the evidence supports them.

When a formulation is updated, subscribers will receive the latest version without an additional upgrade charge.

RACHEL was born from a very personal experience and one simple belief: looking after yourself shouldn’t have to be so complicated.

TIME
DNA Damage Repair and Cell Protection

TIME contains four carefully selected ingredients to support age-related deterioration of important processes at a cellular level.

These processes help cells generate usable energy, protect important cellular structures and remove DNA mutations and remove components that have become damaged over time.

TIME is formulated to support these complementary aspects of cellular health within one daily capsule.

The Ingredients

NR is a precursor from which the body can make Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide, or NAD+. NAD+ is an essential coenzyme present in every cell. It transfers electrons during the reactions that convert nutrients into ATP, which is the usable energy that powers cellular activity.

NAD+ is also consumed by enzymes involved in maintaining the cell. PARP enzymes use NAD+ when responding to – and coordinating the repair of – damaged DNA. NAD+ dependent sirtuins help regulate mitochondrial function, metabolic signalling, responses to cellular stress and processes involved in autophagy, which is the controlled removal and recycling of damaged cellular material.  Evidence suggests that a calorie-resticted diet, consistent moderate exercise and sauna use can all promote autophagy.

NAD+ availability tends to decline with age, reducing the resources available for energy production and cellular maintenance processes.

In a randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled human trial, 300 mg of NR increased whole-blood NAD+ by approximately 51% after two weeks, with the increase maintained during continued supplementation.*

CoQ10 is an essential component of the mitochondrial electron-transport chain; the process through which cells convert energy from nutrients into ATP (energy usable by cells). CoQ10 is produced naturally by the body, although its concentration in some tissues appears to decline with age. Although CoQ10 also has antioxidant properties, antioxidant activity alone does not establish a meaningful healthy-ageing benefit.

The more relevant human evidence concerns fatigue. A systematic review and meta-analysis combined 13 randomised controlled trials involving 1,126 participants. CoQ10 supplementation produced a statistically significant reduction in reported fatigue compared with placebo. The analysis also found associations between greater effects, higher daily doses and longer supplementation periods.*

L-ergothioneine is a naturally occurring, sulphur-containing amino-acid derivative that the human body cannot manufacture. It must be obtained externally, yet the body produces a highly specific transporter (OCTN1, encoded by the SLC22A4 gene) to absorb it and concentrate it within particular cells and tissues.

Ergothioneine is chemically stable and can help protect cellular proteins, DNA and mitochondria, as well as lipids (the fatty molecules that form the membranes surrounding cells and their internal structures). Damage to these membranes can disrupt their ability to control what enters and leaves the cell, maintain communication between cellular compartments and support normal energy production within the mitochondria.

Its selective transport and accumulation have led researchers to describe it as a cell-protective compound, rather than simply another dietary antioxidant. Its precise physiological roles and long-term effects in humans remain under investigation.

A 2025 randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled study in 66 women reported that 30 mg/day for eight weeks improved measured skin parameters including elasticity, wrinkles, pigmentation and skin glossiness compared with placebo. This study is currently available as a preprint and has not yet completed peer review, so its findings should be treated as promising rather than conclusive.*

Astaxanthin is a carotenoid (natural pigment) antioxidant that can help protect lipids (compounds in the body that store energy, form cell membranes and act as signalling molecules) and other cellular structures from oxidative stress.

In an eight-week randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled study in 42 healthy women, participants received either 2 mg astaxanthin, 8 mg astaxanthin or placebo each day. Astaxanthin supplementation significantly reduced plasma 8-hydroxy-2′-deoxyguanosine, a biomarker of oxidative DNA damage, after four and eight weeks. The researchers also reported changes in several measures of immune response, although these varied by dose and assessment point.*

Daily Use

TIME is designed for consistent daily use.

Take one capsule daily with breakfast and a glass of water. Taking TIME with food is recommended.

TIME is generally well tolerated. Mild digestive upset or nausea may occasionally occur.

If you take prescription medication, check with your doctor or pharmacist before use, particularly if you take warfarin or other anticoagulant medication, as CoQ10 can interact with warfarin.

BALANCE
Support Through Hormonal Changes

BALANCE contains three carefully selected ingredients to support female vitality through periods of hormonal change and everyday stress.

Hormonal wellbeing is influenced by interconnected systems governing the stress response, reproductive health, energy, mood and sleep. BALANCE is formulated to support these overlapping aspects of female wellbeing, helping the body maintain equilibrium as circumstances and hormonal demands change.

The Ingredients

Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera) is a botanical traditionally used to help the body adapt to periods of physical and psychological stress. BALANCE provides 600 mg of KSM-66, a concentrated, full-spectrum extract produced exclusively from Ashwagandha root.

Cortisol is an essential hormone that helps coordinate the body’s response to stress, regulate metabolism and make energy available when it is needed. Although its short-term rise is a normal and useful response, continuing psychological stress can keep the body’s stress-response system activated for longer than intended.

In a randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled study, 64 adults experiencing chronic stress received either 600mg of KSM-66 Ashwagandha or placebo each day for 60 days.

Participants taking KSM-66 reported a 44% reduction in perceived-stress scores, compared with 5.5% in the placebo group. Their serum cortisol levels also fell by 27.9%, compared with 7.9% with placebo. Improvements were additionally reported across measures of anxiety, low mood, sleeplessness and social functioning.*

Shatavari (Asparagus racemosus) is a botanical traditionally used in Indian medicine to support women’s health through hormonal change. Its roots contain naturally occurring steroidal saponins known as shatavarins, which are being investigated for their potential role in supporting hormonal regulation during perimenopause.

In a 2025 randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled study, 80 women experiencing perimenopausal symptoms received either Shatavari root extract or placebo once daily for eight weeks.

Compared with placebo, women taking Shatavari experienced significant improvements across the psychological, physical and urogenital areas of the Menopause Rating Scale. The researchers also reported significant improvements in hot flushes, perceived stress and fatigue, together with an earlier improvement in vigour.*

* Mahajan S, Avad P, Langade J. Efficacy and Safety of Shatavari (Asparagus racemosus) Root Extract for Perimenopause: Randomized, Double-Blind, Placebo-Controlled Study. International Journal of Women’s Health. 2025;17:4057–4073. doi:10.2147/IJWH.S544267. The clinical study used 300 mg daily of a specifically standardised Shatavari root extract. Ingredient extracts can differ in their concentration and composition.

Boron occurs naturally in fruits, vegetables, nuts and legumes, but the amount obtained from food varies considerably according to both food choices and growing conditions.

Its inclusion in BALANCE is not intended as a routine nutritional top-up. We selected 3 mg because this specific supplemental amount has been studied in postmenopausal women and shown to influence mineral retention and steroid-hormone metabolism.

In a controlled study, women receiving 3 mg of boron daily lost significantly less calcium and magnesium through their urine. The researchers also reported significant increases in blood concentrations of 17β-estradiol and testosterone. The researchers considered the observed changes consistent with supporting calcium retention and helping protect against bone demineralisation.*

Daily Use

BALANCE is designed for consistent daily use.

Take one capsule daily with breakfast and a glass of water. Taking BALANCE with food is recommended.

BALANCE is generally well tolerated. Mild digestive upset, loose stools, nausea or drowsiness may occasionally occur.

Do not take BALANCE during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. If you have a thyroid or liver condition, take thyroid medication, or regularly use prescription medicines, check with your doctor or pharmacist before use.

FRIENDS
Support for the Digestive and Immune Systems

FRIENDS contains four complementary probiotic species and pomegranate peel extract to provide support extending beyond the digestive system to the immune system and beyond.

The bacteria living inside us communicate with our own cells, interact with the immune system and produce biologically active compounds capable of influencing processes elsewhere in the body. FRIENDS is our approach to system-wide support, based on the understanding that certain bacteria work with us: not as adversaries but as friends.

The Ingredients

Lactiplantibacillus plantarum has been studied as part of probiotic combinations for its potential to support immune resilience and the body’s response to seasonal respiratory infections.

In a 12-week randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled study, 65 healthy adults received either a three-species probiotic combination containing L. plantarum or a placebo during the winter. The researchers monitored the occurrence and severity of common-cold symptoms, quality of life and markers involved in immune and inflammatory responses.

Participants receiving the probiotic combination experienced less severe cold symptoms and fewer days affected by them. Muscle pain was also reported less frequently, and fewer participants used medication to manage their cold symptoms.*

The study used a particular strain of L. plantarum alongside L. acidophilus and B. animalis subsp. lactis. It therefore provides evidence for L. plantarum as part of a complementary probiotic combination rather than demonstrating the effect of L. plantarum alone. This combination-based approach informed its inclusion alongside three other probiotic species in FRIENDS.

Bifidobacterium longum has been studied as part of probiotic combinations for its potential role in the interaction between the gut microbiome, immune activity and allergic response.

In an eight-week randomised, placebo-controlled exploratory study, 41 adults with allergic rhinitis received either a four-species probiotic combination or a placebo. The combination contained particular strains of B. longum and B. breve alongside L. acidophilus and L. rhamnosus.

Participants receiving the probiotic combination showed significant improvements from their starting measurements in a validated assessment of allergic-rhinitis symptoms and their effect on quality of life. Improvements were recorded after four and eight weeks and remained evident four weeks after supplementation ended.*

Analysis of the participants’ intestinal microbiomes also identified changes in bacterial populations associated by the researchers with a more anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic intestinal environment.

Because the preparation contained four probiotic species, the results cannot be attributed to B. longum alone. The study nevertheless illustrates how B. longum and B. breve have been investigated as complementary members of a broader probiotic community intended to influence communication between the intestinal microbiome and the immune system.

Bifidobacterium breve and Limosilactobacillus reuteri have been studied together for their potential influence on the gut–brain axis—the two-way communication system connecting the intestinal microbiome with the brain.

In a randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled crossover study, 33 healthy adults experiencing work-related stress received a combination providing 2 billion CFU of B. breve and 2 billion CFU of L. reuteri each day.

After 30 days, the probiotic combination produced significant improvements in validated measures of mood and sleep quality compared with both the participants’ starting measurements and placebo.*

A separate randomised, double-blind controlled study followed 200 women during the first three months after childbirth. Women receiving a combination of these two probiotic species experienced significantly better mood scores after 45 and 90 days than women in the control group.**

Limosilactobacillus reuteri has been studied as part of probiotic combinations for its potential influence on metabolic health and the low-grade inflammation associated with metabolic imbalance.

In a randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled study, 60 older adults with metabolic syndrome received either a synbiotic formulation or a placebo for 60 days. A synbiotic combines probiotic microorganisms with prebiotics—substances intended to support the growth or activity of beneficial intestinal bacteria.

The formulation contained particular strains of L. reuteri, L. plantarum and L. acidophilus together with prebiotic ingredients. Compared with placebo, participants receiving the synbiotic showed significant improvements in waist circumference, fasting insulin, several measures of blood lipids and markers of systemic inflammation.*

The improvement in visceral adiposity index—a measure combining waist circumference, body mass index, triglycerides and HDL cholesterol—was also significantly greater in the synbiotic group. Participants receiving the synbiotic additionally reported an improvement in their overall assessment of health.

Because the study tested three probiotic species together with prebiotics, its findings cannot be attributed to L. reuteri alone. It does, however, demonstrate how L. reuteri has been studied as part of a complementary microbial combination designed to influence processes extending beyond digestion.

Pomegranate peel contains ellagitannins and ellagic acid—plant-derived compounds that can be transformed within the intestinal microbiome into metabolites called urolithins.

The most extensively studied of these metabolites is urolithin A. It has attracted scientific interest for its potential role in mitophagy, the process through which cells identify, dismantle and recycle damaged mitochondria. Mitochondria are the structures within cells responsible for producing much of the energy used by the body.

In a four-month randomised, placebo-controlled study involving 88 middle-aged adults, direct supplementation with urolithin A improved measures of muscle strength and produced changes in biomarkers associated with mitochondrial health.*

Pomegranate studies demonstrate that the amount and type of urolithins produced vary between individuals according to the microorganisms already present within their intestinal microbiome. Some people produce urolithin A readily, while others produce different urolithins or little detectable urolithin at all.

Each FRIENDS capsule contains 400mg of pomegranate peel extract standardised to 40% ellagic acid, providing 160mg of ellagic acid as a substrate from which an individual’s wider gut microbiome may produce urolithins. This precursor-based approach works with the capabilities of the microbiome rather than supplying urolithin A directly, but individual conversion—and therefore the amount of urolithin A produced—cannot be guaranteed.

Daily Use

FRIENDS is designed for consistent daily use.

Take one capsule daily with breakfast and a glass of water. Taking FRIENDS with food is recommended. Avoid taking it with a very hot drink, as excessive heat can damage the live bacterial cultures.

FRIENDS is generally well tolerated. Temporary bloating, wind or changes in bowel habit may occasionally occur when first introducing probiotic bacteria and should normally settle with continued use.

If you are taking antibiotics, take FRIENDS at least two hours before or after each antibiotic dose.

CLARITY
Improving Mental Performance, Resilience and Memory

CLARITY contains four carefully selected ingredients to support memory, attention, mental performance and resilience under pressure.

Memory and concentration depend upon healthy brain cells, effective communication between them and the ability to maintain performance during sustained mental demand. CLARITY is formulated to support these complementary aspects of cognitive function without relying upon stimulants.

The Ingredients

Bacopa monnieri is a plant traditionally used in Ayurveda (a long-established Indian system of medicine).  It is studied in modern clinical research for memory, learning and performance during sustained mental effort.

In a randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled crossover study, 24 healthy adults received either placebo, 320mg or 640mg of a particular standardised Bacopa extract before completing a demanding series of cognitive tests. The 320mg dose improved performance during several repetitions of the test battery, suggesting support for maintaining performance as mental demands continue.*

Bacopa has also been studied over longer periods. In a 12-week randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial involving 54 older adults, 300mg daily of a standardised Bacopa extract improved delayed word recall and performance on a test requiring participants to disregard irrelevant information.**

A separate 12-week trial involving 81 adults aged 55 and over found that 300mg daily improved the acquisition and retention of new information. This is particularly relevant because Bacopa’s effects on memory appear to develop through consistent use rather than acting simply as a short-lived stimulant.***

* Downey LA et al. An acute, double-blind, placebo-controlled crossover study of 320 mg and 640 mg doses of a special extract of Bacopa monnieri (CDRI 08) on sustained cognitive performance. Phytotherapy Research. 2013;27(9):1407–1413. PubMed
** Calabrese C et al. Effects of a standardized Bacopa monnieri extract on cognitive performance, anxiety, and depression in the elderly: a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial. Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine. 2008;14(6):707–713. PubMed

Citicoline is a naturally-occurring compound used by the body to produce phosphatidylcholine—an important structural component of cell membranes—and acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter involved in attention, learning and memory.

After ingestion, citicoline provides choline and cytidine, which the body can use to support the manufacture and maintenance of brain-cell membranes and communication between nerve cells.

In a randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled study, 60 healthy women aged 40–60 received 250mg citicoline, 500mg citicoline or placebo each day for 28 days. On a test of sustained attention, the women receiving 250mg made significantly fewer omission errors—failing to respond when required—and commission errors—responding when they should not—than those receiving placebo.*

The results suggest that citicoline can support both attentional accuracy and cognitive inhibition: the ability to maintain focus while suppressing inappropriate or distracting responses.

Citicoline has also been investigated for memory. In a 12-week randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial involving 100 healthy adults aged 50–85 with age-associated memory impairment, 500mg daily produced greater improvements in episodic memory than placebo. Episodic memory is the ability to learn and recall particular events and information.**

Panax ginseng has a long history of traditional use for vitality and resilience. Its principal active compounds are ginsenosides, which have been investigated for their effects on mental performance and fatigue.

In a randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled crossover study, 30 healthy adults received placebo, 200mg or 400mg of a standardised Panax ginseng extract before completing repeated mentally demanding tasks. The 200mg dose improved performance on a mental maths test and reduced the increase in the reported mental fatigue produced by prolonged cognitive effort.*

The studied extract was standardised to 4% ginsenosides, providing 8mg from the 200mg dose and 16mg from the 400mg dose.

CLARITY contains 120mg of Panax ginseng extract standardised to 20% ginsenosides, providing approximately 24mg of ginsenosides in each daily capsule.

Saffron is obtained from the stigmas of Crocus sativus. It contains several biologically active compounds, including crocins, crocetin and safranal, which have been investigated for their effects on mood, emotional balance and resilience under stress.

Low mood and prolonged mental pressure can make it harder to concentrate, process information and perform consistently. In CLARITY, saffron complements the ingredients directed more specifically towards memory and attention by supporting the emotional conditions in which clear thinking takes place.

In a randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled study, 56 healthy adults experiencing low mood, anxiety or stress received either 30mg of Safr’Inside® or placebo daily for eight weeks. Participants receiving the saffron extract reported a greater reduction in depressive mood scores and an improvement in their assessment of social relationships.

The researchers also exposed participants to a demanding laboratory multitasking exercise. The usual stress-related reduction in heart-rate variability (HRV) occurred in the placebo group but was reduced in those receiving Safr’Inside®. This finding suggests an improved ability to adapt to mental pressure rather than simply a change in mood.*

Daily Use

CLARITY is designed for consistent daily use.

Take one capsule daily with breakfast and a glass of water. Taking CLARITY with food is recommended. As Panax ginseng may feel stimulating for some people, CLARITY is best taken earlier in the day.

CLARITY is generally well tolerated. Mild digestive upset, nausea, headache or restlessness may occasionally occur.

Do not take CLARITY during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. If you take warfarin or another anticoagulant, diabetes medication or levodopa, check with your doctor or pharmacist before use.
